sometimes i wonder if this forum is going terribly wrong or terribly fun.

People are still posting on it so its getting along alright.

Regarding it going terribly wrong; is the forum going down a path that is making you uneasy or going against your values? If it isn't then I would have to say its fine.

He's rather crude. If you feel that's a problem, maybe you should ban him longer next time, or permenatly?

I am getting the feeling you probably don't think he's posting in the appropriate forum for him?
