No they aren't cops. Almost none of the people who work in real crime labs are cops, they're real scientists, corenors, and baslistick techs. But they don't leave the lab in real cases. The forensic teams collect evidence, and send it to the lab.

That's another reason the show is hollywood, they have the forensic teams doing more then they're supposed too. There's people in lab to do the testing and analyzing, the forensic teams collect evidence, and determine what happend and how it happend with the evidence they've collected and the test results that their crime lab gives them.

Criminalists have specialty jobs they have to do. No one person does everything. Todd, you wouldnt happen to be taking forensics this year, would you¿ You seem to know a lot about this. I am, so I just figured...

todd, that's what i meant, they do more then is their job.

GC, i was surprised when i read about the tons of people wanting to do forensics, because they thought it was like csi, from what i heard, over here, the first thing they do to the new kids, is tell them it's nothing like csi, which, while logical when you think about it, seems to elude a lot of people.

I'm glad my intro thread turned into a debate about forensics and CSI.
[No sarcasm]

Another thing about CSI... there's absolutely no way in real life those kinds of things would all happen in the same city over such a short period of time. A lot of that show is based on extremely rare diseases and disorders and other types of abnormalities, and they really shouldn't use ALL unbelievably rare things. They should have a few normal everyday murders or something.

I'm not too much into forensics, it's interesting but not one of my free-time hobbies, hence my not knowing much about it. And I'm no big fan of CSI either.
Or American schools/idiots.

Our President is a prime example of what they teach in our schools. [Here I go bringing politics into it.] It's sickening. Most of what I know, I taught myself. My particular school does nothing for educating.

That's what makes it such a great and intresting t.v. show.

I agree and disagree. It's an interesting show, sure, but... well honestly I suppose I haven't given it much chance. So I'ma shut up now :)
