Trying to be someone you're not won't get you anywhere. Do not pretend to be a goth on the assumption that we are all goths and that we would all love you if you say "I R teh goth." Just post naturally and intelligently.
Also, this goes for religion. Don't say "I'm a devoted hinduist." in one topic then in teh next topic rant about how you're such a catholic because someone says they are. Diversity is what makes this place great.

We do insult on this board quite often, I admit. However, most of it's in good fun for whoever involved because most of us are open-minded and have a sense of humor {whether it was good humor or not). So most should never taken anyone's online sarcasim, insults, etc as literal. No one should ever flame another because of differences.
This also goes for anyone disagreeing with another's opinions. E.g.

@GC: I live about 3 hours from Seraph, if he really does live in Vermont.

I found that having the same traits as someone else, and trying to be in a relationship with that person, doesn't work too well.

I find it depends on the traits. I would like a person more extroverted than me but shares most of my opinions.

I want a chick that I could fight with all day and later have some fun.

People that agree with me too much, or people I find myself agreeing to too often bother me a little. Just a tad awkward.

But if there's fun later then it doesn't matter all too much.
