Al-Qahirah

Postby Jack » Sat Dec 01, 2007 1:09 am

(Al-Qahirah is the Arabic name for the planet Mars. It literally means "the Vanquisher," and is the local name for the city of Cairo.)

Hello, Mindistorted.

I may or may not stay long. I've read the forum guidelines. The site seems pretty interesting. I like Manuel Fallmann's work, especially Escapism.

Anything I should know?

Thanks.

Why, thank you!

The MINDistortion people can be harsh sometimes, but that's only when they're annoyed. Other than that it's a happy dysfunctional family.

Enjoy your stay (if you decide to stay).

What's this about being harsh sometimes, were harsh ALL the time. And we get worse when we are annoyed by ignorant idiots.

But however, it seems this one is not one of them, so indeed; Enjoy your stay.

welcome dude, interesting avatar, you made it yourself?

why reference to cairo, even using it as your name, when you have "Location: United States"?

and davion, i wouldn't call this harsh, it's a pretty friendly place, if you know how to take things.

I disagree, it's a cold desolate place. Cold and desolate places bring about cold and desolate people because that is the reality of things! Same brings about same. We may be attracted to the prospect of the different but that won't happen until WE OURSELVES change to that different. However, once you do that this forum because less interesting and people like that leave.

It's the rule of MD, harsh begot harsh. When we stop being harsh we stop being a part of MD, a part of the big happy dysfunctional family.

The avatar is from Deviantart. It's called Acquaintance, and it's by Beatnik.

As for the username, I'm studying the Arabic language at this time. Interpreters make a lot of money these days....

davion,
harsh beget harsh? of course, but, like you said, it's part of what makes MD MD.
and it's a specific flavour of harshness, one i can tolerate and appreciate, yes, you're judged, but judge with reason behind it, and not purely xenophobic either.
as long as you know that you decide for yourself, no matter who judges you how, you'd fit in, i think.

cairo, hmm, and it's something that interests you, isn't it?
always nice to see people focussing on something they like, wonder what things you've to tell.

Not much. I mostly just sit around and laze all the time. I like to write stories and come up with ideas for video games. A lot of the time I just study things, like foreign languages, or my music collection.

... It's been a while since I've been on a forum. I can't think of anything meaningful to post whenever I go on a thread. That's the main reason why I don't think I'll be able to stay here very long. Maybe that feeling will go away and I'll start joining in on the discussions or something.

don't try to put too much value into every post, it's what stopped me from joining any boards in the beginning, just see it as a place to relax and socialize, nothing else is needed.

Welcome Cairo!

@Davion: It seems only in the intro thread you have little angst moments and then wonder why I occasionally call you emo.
