Welcome to Mindistortion.
Thank you for being neither stupid nor pretentious in your intro thread. Very few newbies manage to accomplish this.

Yeah. I don't bother with all that personal garbage. We're on the internet, people don't need to know your life story on the internet... And to be honest, very few people care about how you dress or what your name is. People only care about proper english, your gender, and your username so they know how to talk to you... To go rambling off on all these personal topics is just to be an attention whore, and to be annoying.

In contrast, it's good to vent steam or stress, even in the form of a forum post. But to treat an internet forum like group of close friends is just fucking absurd.. I think.

I disagree, but I've only been doing it for several years now. I've said this before, and I'll say this again... MD is my talk therapy.

Eh, still. When people know you, cool, talk away. But when you have dozens of people bursting in giving people your life story, most of it stereotypical, in attempt to be cool or fit in (When they _clearly_ don't) It's pretty annoying. So I refrain from doing that.

My opinion is to get to where you get along with a fair number of people, and talk to them if you have to.
Online has the advantage of no real social whiplash if you do something wrong.
Oh, need a new addendum: Talking it out in person with a close friend is always best and works better than anything else. I oughta know...
