I'm learning japanese on my own.. but failing miserably since I'm too lazy to memorize the hiragana and katagana.
So I just write using Kanji. :oops:

^Seriously? I memorized the hiragana and katakana then stopped going to class and got too lazy to remember the kanji.

Kanji is much easier to me cause it's old school chinese. :)
And I learn chinese. so I write by using kanji and a few hinagana s like 'no' and such..

@Tweak: No, I'm not joking.

I like Latin too. I studied that for a while, a while back, but eventually got tired of it because, like English, it's pretty complicating in comparison to languages like Japanese, and there wasn't much opportunity to use it beyond bettering my English skills.

@Rachelluna: exactly. Thats why it always frustrated me when our Japanese teacher always said "at least Japanese isnt as hard as German".

@Daemon: you didnt answer my question, why dont you like my flatmates?

I don't get it. You're annoyed because you prefer to communicate in Japanese using only kanji and the hiragana/katakana used as particles, conjugations, and whatever else, and people are commenting saying, "I prefer learning hiragana/katakana first."

Also, I take it that you're of Chinese descent?

And along with Spanish, I've dabbled in German. I had trouble finding good resources on the internet for it, so I dropped that. Japanese is the first language that I've really stuck with, and I've loved it. Learning Japanese teaches me a lot about English and other languages and makes me respect different forms of communication. I've learned English sign language to a good extent, both American Sign Language and Signing Exact English.

Language is fun. I also find it relatively easy to communicate with or without a native accent, albeit slower than a native speaker would.

The cantonese type chinese.
I kept forgetting my hiragana and katakana so I'll just use Kanji. :)

The first paragraph/couple lines of the reply were directed at both of you. The second part is @ Rachelluna. The third part is directed to nobody in particular.

I actually didn't find it strange when I was reading what he typed and i imagined a voice yelling it at me. For some reason, it was oddly fitting.

Sorry I don't mean to yell I've just got used to using an exclamation mark at the end of all my sentences. I realize now that I need to break that habit.
