1. You didn't reply late. This is a forum, not a chatroom. You don't have to reply right away, and you're encouraged not to. You're supposed to come on the site to reply to posts maybe once or twice a day, if that.
2. The majority of us are not "emos," or fans of My Chemical Romance. In fact, most of us are pretty hostile towards that subculture, although some of us can be a little more lenient.
Personally, I regard "emos" in the same way I regard "preps," because they are both following a popular fashion trend. "Real emos," the ones who are all depressed and self loathing, are ridiculous, hypocritical, and ungrateful dumbasses who don't know how good they've got it.
As for MCR, I've got one of their albums and I don't mind a couple of the songs on it, and I've heard that they themselves are not actually "emos" and tend to make a mockery of the fact that their fans tend to be "emos," so I don't mind them so much.
3. My name is also Jacob!

yes, I know mcr is not emo, they said it,...like a bunch of times lol, and I particulary don't take "emo" as a fashion trend I take it as a subculture of punk and hardcore.
I call myself "emo" cos I love emo music, but thats also my point of view.
ohh and yeah I think Jacob's a really pretty name

@New Jake: welcome! I have no problem with emos as long as they dont go on about it too much, then again I dont like anyone that goes on about their style too much.
I also dont think MCR are that emo, except that black parade shit. But otherwise, doesnt bother me.
@KBE: make your own intro thread and start posting nicely and I might consider welcoming you

emo is more "alternative" than punk.
i would probably lay it out like this.
punk -> post punk -> grunge/alternative -> emo
Posted: Sun Nov 09, 2008 8:37 am
by Astica
None of it is alternative.
So there.

I've got nothing against real emos, as I've got a freind who is one, but faking emos real piss me off cuz its just another way to try to fit into society.
I am against fitting into society.
But anyways, welcome aboard Jake.

All emos are just trying to fit in. Emo and prep serve the same purpose.
Posted: Sun Nov 09, 2008 4:46 pm
by Shotgun_sinner
Not actually, the last thing we want is to "Fit in" we actually respect and love our music and we are proud of it
thats why we call ourselves "emo"
being ourselves is better than pretending being someone else.
btw we hate preps
Posted: Sun Nov 09, 2008 4:48 pm
by ƒrosty
You're fitting in just the same as preps, just to a different group. You'll understand when you're older.[/asshole]

Okay kids you obviously don't know a thing about the term 'emo'
Execpt from the actually dimominator in this conversation - Jake
So here's the offical definition...
'What is emo? Well most people would consider it punk with emotion is what we would call the classification of a new rising way of feeling your inner self.'
I ACTUALLY COPIED THAT OFF AN OFFICAL EMO WEBSITE.
And a longer defintion...
' Close enough to punk and rock Emo is now know for it's more emotional state of mind. Instead of the anger hard-core way of expressing one-self , Emo (short for emotional) has taken a new tole on the twentith century of expressing yourself. From the music with strong emotion and feeling, unlike hard rock or this is more of an alternative way to let your feeling be known.Emo is not only a classification or a type of music it's also taken over the way one expresses themself by dressing. It includes the tighter fiting pants to the dyed-black or dark hair with it covering your face. The longer hair in front with the spikes in the back is also a more Emo- or emotional look to dressing.'
Now for fuck sake...
That's the definition - nothing else!
So can we all please leave emo's alone.

Part of the emo condition is the stubborn denial you're exhibiting. An emo website isn't going to be a reliable source on this.
Posted: Sun Nov 09, 2008 5:09 pm
by Shotgun_sinner
it will be a reliable source to people who doesn't know whats the meaning
