i was told i'm at that stage where i'm not a child and i'm definitely not an adult.

Adolescence is the correct terminology, and that's where I am too. Usually 12 (or 13) to 17 is considered teenage years. 18 and above is definately maturity into adult-hood.

It does, however, vary between nations (sometimes). The chriteria I posted was for the U.S. I'm not sure what it is for other coutries; it might be the same for most others too. The middle-east does have it's different perspectives though, so I can't be too sure. Europe has different views on alcohol (which I don't want to go into that conversation; it usually insults the "American" ways of drinking).

The reason some don't consider the ages of 18 and 19 as adolescence is because you are legally an adult, can marry by their own concent, own their own property, etc.

Like I said, it varies between people/nations/ethnic groups.
