Postby dickwad » Mon Dec 08, 2008 4:28 am

so i am trying to make my ps3 controller compatible with my PC with this website, but i am having no luck with these instructions. the only thing i'm unsure of is when it says "unpack ps3sixaxis_en.exe". how exactly would i go about doing this?

Well the ps3sixaxis_en.exe must be in the download with the drivers (too lazy to look), and unpack is just another term for opening. If it's not in there I suggest Google it.

burned, i was about to give the same advice, but reading the link, i think the guide is just fuzzy.

the guide just means "get the .exe file out of the .rar file".
unrar the thing, plug in controller, run new .exe file in folder.

Looks like it is a file in the "Sixaxis_PS3_Win32_Drive r_For_PC.rar" archive.

Unpack it all, and then search the folder you unzipped too.

but before it says to unpack, it says to install the driver.. meaning i should have already unpacked the .rar.

I re-read it, it is kinda...blah on the process.

Download.
Unpack all files.
Install the filter driver (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe).
Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC.
Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe.
Push the PS button on the SIXAXIS once if it doesn't see it straight away.
Tell us how it goes.

wayne, true.
leading to the conclusion that the maker of the guide is an idiot.
either that or using a REALLY weird installer that uses the files in a folder close to it, rather than the files packed in the exe.
but if it did that, there would be no reason placing them in the exe.
and there's no reason to do that, there's plenty of free non-confusing installers.

yeah, i already tried this with fuck all results. HOWEVER, i then tried switching USB ports and then it seemed to recognise it, so i get a "this hardware is now installed and ready to use" message. nope.. still not working. i went into control panel to check, and it is definitely there. went into device manager, saw that there was a couple "unknown devices" that were disabled, so i enabled them on the off chance that one of them was the controller, and restarted. still nothing. i really don't know what to do next and i'm wondering if it is really worth the trouble.

i will try this later. if all goes well all i'll have to do is download that guy's files and run the "connect" program, as i already have the controller and driver installed.

edit: got this shit working finally, the video makes me wonder whether downloading his files specifically was really necessary though. when he says "just start hitting buttons, eventually it'll pick it up", makes me wonder if i was just being impatient.
