Try Windows 7 for free

Postby Guitar_clock » Mon Jun 01, 2009 12:04 am

My brother has this, you can use it for about a year or so. Supposed to have all the drivers and things pre-installed and ready to go so there's never a need to download, say, flash, to watch a youtube video, or quicktime or something to play a .avi file. Very simplified as well.

i recommend it if you have a sys to spare.
i've been using it as my main for ages now, since before 7077, and i like it. took a bit of customizing to get what i want, but it's better'n vista, which makes it best winOS there is atm.

Yeah, file transfers (device -> hard-drive and other way around) are ten times faster compared to XP or Vista I hear

hmm, i prefered vista over XP, but yeah, win7 is good.

been using RC and various betas, it elliminated most things i disliked about windows vs linux, aside from things that just can't change right now.
some of the things it didn't elliminate there's other apps for, so all's good.

Same here.
W7 looks good, but it uses a lot less resources and 'background services' compared to Vista so it is much faster, and better for gaming (which I do play high-detailed games so it helps).

Windows 7 is my new favorite operating system, even though normally I hate on Microsoft.
I have always dual-booted though.

biggest problem for vista was that it tried to do things practically without informing users. what vista does, is use as many free cpu time and the like as it can use, whenever an app needs it, vista relinquishes it. but if you check while idling or only running small tasks, it looks as if vista uses loads.
