Linux OS

Postby Palmer » Sat Aug 15, 2009 12:29 am

What is your favorite "distro" or distribution of Linux Operating System?

I tried to add some of the most popular GNOME and KDE architecture so here it is.

If you have never used Linux and/or don't know what it is, just vote for the last option, otherwise, select select which one... Kind of self explanatory.

I personally have been using Sabayon, which is Gentoo based.

... I was actually wondering, how many people here actually USE Linux OS.

I'll be putting Ubuntu onto my PS3 and turning it into my new desktop soon.

I would put it on my Ps3, but I play games on mine... I have no reason to, but that would be cool to try. =]

It would still be a gaming system; you could just "open" your desktop computer.

Yeah, I guess you could...
It has settings to make 10 GB for the Ps3 system, or 10 GB for the "Other OS." I just didn't want to put mine on there because I only have 80 GB of hard drive space, and I put a lot of music and movies on mine.
You can put a new harddrive in it, like a 250 GB or something though.

no need to put distro in quotation marks mate.

care to explain why sabayon?

for the record, i've tried a load of distros and find myself returning to ubuntu (debian based, also one of the more popular and known distros) or linux mint (ubuntu based), simply for the ease of use.
i usually heavilly customize though, but you can do that with (almost) any OS, especially *nix ones.

Ooo, it's been a while since I logged on.
Computer section is pretty inactive...

IDK why I put distro in quotes... hm... I just do that sometimes.

anyways; I like Sabayon, a lot of the reason is looks and it is pretty different from other OSes, in terms of the "out-of-the-box usability" and ease of setting up.
