Get a faster internet.

Actually, there's a thing in the downloading section, that if you put 0 it gives it unlimited resources.

That second half. Elaborate.

And on the first point, I have seen people with my same connection speed download 6+ times faster than me, so that's obviously not it. :P

Well then people never broadcast faster than 34ish kB/s.

Add more trackers to the list that the file is downloading from then, gosh.

I used Azgarth's list he posted, and it had seemingly no effect. I'm just a torrent jinx.

I don't know how to make sure port forwarding is functioning or not, and if it's not, I don't know how to fix it.

For the record, my torrents DL at about 500 KB to 2 MB/s
The highest I've had is 2 MB/s but generally it's around 800 KB/s.

Here are some good tips;
Like Azgarth said, port forward.
Look at a guide or look it up on youtube, usually they have good tutorials.

Set the Uplaod limit to about 5 KB/s so it doesn't use too much bandwidth uploading data while you are downloading.

if you can, just leave it on over night, so it doesn't slow down your internet / other torrents.

I believe they have accelerators to help them DL faster- but I have never used them so I don't know from personal experience.

Tweak some of the "connection" setting, change the Max Global Connections and Max Seeders and a few other settings [assuming you are using µtorrent though].

That's all I can give you, really...

I changed the max global connections, I don't know where to go to tweak the max seeders, though.

Halp?

Curious, how fast are your torrents downloading??
Kind of off topic, but whatever...

Image

I'm not sure what the max global connections are supposed to be set as- but I left that and "Max Number of connected peers per torrent" at it's default.

so I went and looked it up, there is a trick for the "Bandwidth Limiting"
[ http://www.speedtest.net/ is the speedtest it is talking about ]
Now this is a bit of a tricky part, remember that speedtest I told you to take at the beginning of this guide? we’re going to use the results.Take your upload speed and divide it by 10 (use the windows calculator), I got 20.9. We only want to use about 85% of that so grab the calculator and work out your result x 0.85 = maximum upload rate. Mine was 17.765 but since uTorrent only allows round numbers, I’ll rounded it up to 18.

The upload rate I changed to one, checked as "Alternative when not Downloading" so when it is done it goes to the regular upload limit [which is set to 0, or unlimited, for me].

All of that won't make TOO much of a difference- but would help somewhat significantly.

Notice how way at the bottom of the Window it shows an error [the red shape with White exclamation mark]. That port isn't working/configured correctly or something is blocking it.

you should enable 'randomize ports every time you start µtorrent.'
I don't port-forward mine, I just set it to random and usually it lands on one that is already port-forwarded. if not you can just click the "Randomize Port" button, so it will do it right then.

Go with some of these settings and see if it helps:

CONNECTION

Listening Port:
» Port used for incoming connections: – 45682
» Randomize port each time uTorrent starts – CHECKED
» Enable UPnP port mapping – CHECKED

My port is forwarding correctly. I get 35-40kB/s on a good day. :(

Whaaaat?
that's not so great... at all. =/

hm... not sure what to tell you, if it's forwarded correctly.

http://triponic.com/guidestutorials/opt ... -settings/

Try looking at that, specifically the bandwidth settings, the UI and System Tray settings are all optional.

I just realized it's probably not utorrent that's screwing my speeds up so badly.
