It's awesome, I put it on my old PC, but its network card is outdated and therefore incompatible, so I can't hook it up to the internet. Shouldn't be a problem if your computer is fairly new.

Window 7 is fairly durable. I am a curse on technology, and I've only managed to mess up this computer once, and Windows 7 still managed to fix that. I'd upgrade if I were in your shoes.

I still don't know, but when I scroll up and down pages, I use the up an down arrow keys (this is absolutely relevant, I swear!).

Sometime last month, I was on the internet, and I hit the down key to scroll down, and it minimized my whole browser (if that's what it's called). I thought it was simply something I had done, so I reopened my browser, only to have it do the same thing. . . After that, my whole computer literally froze after it tried to open up the "Computer" folder. I pushed the power button to turn it off, and the screen went blank, so I tried to turn it back on, only to have it resume my previous session, which was still messed up and frozen, so I held down the power button until the computer actually turned off.
When I turned it back on Chkdsk (or however that is spelled) ran a complete check up on the computer, which seems to have worked so far (besides trashing all of my settings, which I had to redo). I also did a quick check of my files, nothing was missing (thank my lucky stars!). And I also did a virus scan, only it showed nothing wrong at all, so I currently have no idea as to what was wrong with my computer. After that, Windows 7 has run smoothly since then.
(Okay, maybe it wasn't Windows 7 that fixed it? I'm fairly computer illiterate, so I might have been wrong. But what I just told you is exactly what happened.)

This is why I can say that I am cursed, this would be time #6 that a computer alone has messed up around me (and this one's mine! T-T ), and I am not counting phones and smaller devices.

(I can't believe that I didn't post this in the unhappy thread! I could've sworn I had!)

Hmm... that has to be the weirdest story I've heard yet.
It sounds like a hardware problem. you should have it checked, unless you just bought the computer. If so, I have no clue what might have happened.
yet hearing that your computer didn't fry itself after that is a very good sign.

Windows 7 is almost as fast as XP, even faster in some situations. It's stable, especially now since a ton of updates came out and the interface rocks.

It even works fairly well on my Aspire One netbook.

I'm waiting for my hacker-neighbor-friend to come up to me with a disk and say "Hey, I just bootlegged this copy of Windows 7 and want to see if I did it right. Could you upgrade your computer and try it?" That's how I got XP PRO a few years ago. Fried my computer, but it was a piece of shit anyway.

It's not difficult to do it yourself.

I got Windows 7 free too, Microsoft gives Windows 7 Professional licenses to students where I learn.

Guess they figured out there's not point in trying to sell it to students...

And yet that does not change the fact that I'm too lazy. :D. I might just download it off some torrent or another soon.
