He probably sat at the barbers place going "Hmm. I think I want long hair. no wait, that would get in the way when i have sex and destroys evil people. So I'll go bold. But that would look pretty gay... Just take something in between!"

haha. Stupid barbers.

The thing is, the hair would get in the way on his right side but not on his left. Maybe he sleeps on the left side off the bed, and on his right; the wife. OR his right ear is somehow deformed.
The most likely reason though is that while shaving, he fell asleep, and his hair got all messed up, and when he woke up, after thinking damn, he thought screw my left side hair. I never even liked it anyway (not like you right side hair.) or maybe he had a problem with ticks (somehow only on his left side), and his doctor informed him that he had to amputate his left hair.

Most soldiers though, don't have long hair, it’s to much trouble. In addition to hindering your view it gets stuck in things like your helmet, rifle strap, gas mask… And its no fun if you are unable to wash it for 2-3 weeks.
My doctor says that I have a malformed public duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fiber, and that I am therfore exused from saving Universes.
