I hate turkey.

Love the ham, however.

We are planning a small dinner of about 6 people. I have no real blood family to celebrate with but for once I am looking forward to this years dinner. I will get to be the major chef. I love cooking for appeciative people.

Families are made from love and not blood. I am thankful for this.

I am going to deck this dinner out !!!

erq,
indeed, we have a close family friend who's like family, she's really like an older sister to me, and her two kids are much like little brothers.
it's the care you have for a person, and the way in which you care, not what DNA sequence you share.

what're you cooking?

esch,
turkey is decent, but a well made ham is great, my mom used to make a great sweet ham, i should ask her for the recipe.

Az, ham I will make for X-mas.

My menu so far:

Turkey with homemade stuffing
Mashed potatoes made with garlic and with gravy
Candied yams
Asparagus tips
Sauteed mushrooms
Corn
Green beans with bacon
Black and green olives (ice cold)
Real kosher dill pickles (big and crunchy)
A veggie plate with raw carrots, celery, red peppers, califlower, sweet red onions, sharp cheddar cheese with a home made spinich dip. (ice cold)
Homemade bread and sweet butter
Home made apple, pumpkin and pecan pies
Vanilla ice cream and whipped cream

Of course there will be potato chips and pretzels

If anyone leaves hungry it is their own fault.

Yeah for real I love a good thanksgiving meal, especially when I can share it with my loved ones. WOW! Your cooking all that? You must like to cook.

Actually Yam is a bit slang. It is a sweet potato which I make a syrup for...Brown and white sugar, butter and a bit of water. Cook it till all the sugar liquifies. Pore it over your sweet taters and bake it. I also add some cinnamon, nutmeg and a touch of all spice.

Sliced tomatos are also on the menu but that was kind of a given since EVERYONE grows tomatos here and we eat them fresh off the vine for a few months.

@G... yes I do for a crowd and I do consiser myself a pretty cook cook..of course XD

Oreo Truffles. Super easy to make, very rich with a delicious taste.

WANT.

Also, last night I wanted a frozen chocolate covered banana. So! I bought a mint chocolate bar, and a bunch of bananas. I put the pieces of chocolate in an empty Altoids tin and melted them in front of my space heater, because I don't have any cooking facilities. Then I peeled a banana and put it in a coffee filter to prevent a mess, and poured the molten chocolate over the banana. Then I put it in the mini fridge.

That was the most delicious banana I've ever tasted.
So help me Wayne if you twist my words...
