Your Strange Phobias

Postby Elen Sila » Thu Jul 31, 2008 6:03 pm

In the spirit of the "Weird Fetishes" thread, what are some strange phobias you have?

Me:

1. "Twisty" ties
2. Stickers (especially small ones, especially crumpled)
3. Small scraps of paper (especially crumpled)

Seriously, handling any one of these things makes me feel sick inside, and sometimes I can start shaking or screaming angrily.

I have a phobia of people with Down's or anything similar.

It might stem from the fact that communication with other people is already exhausting and difficult at times for me, and with them, communication is nigh impossible. I just want to get away from them in a hasty manner.

Forgot about that one. Yeah. When I see someone who's severely retarded, I get the fits, just like I do with those three little things I listed before.

Catoptrophobia- Fear of mirrors.
Life's a road with many turns,
to make it through you first get burns.
Cuts and scratches, thrusts of steel,
but only through this can you feel.

i'm not afraid of mirrors in general, but looking into a mirror in the dark definitely freaks me out.

Well, it goes deeper than mirrors in general, but that's a long story. Oh, and also,
Hypnophobia- Fear of sleep.

I'm afraid that I'll somehow remove my eyes. If I rub my eye I start shaking 'cause I worry that I had gotten so close to popping it out. And I can't have sharp objects near my eye without seeing my eye being torn out over and over in my head. Not sure how irrational it would be considered because it started after having numerous dreams about going blind or losing my eyes entirely.

I get horribly creeped out when I turn my back to open doors at night. I don't even know how to beging to explain it.

I also get the creeps when looking into very clean mirrors. I always get the the idea in my head that my reflection isn't going to copy me. That's why I draw all over my mirrors.

Oh I love looking into spotless mirrors. If I stare at my eyes long enough, the rest of my face goes out of focus and it looks like it's shifting around smokily.

I have a phobia of fresh, unscrewed up tin foil. Mainly being in my mouth. I swallowed some recently and was kind of scared Id vomit blood and die. I didnt :D however that tin foil was quite crushed, almost soft.

Ticks. I fear ticks. The creepiest human parasite I've ever encountered.

You need a pair of glasses.

What happens if there's some accident and the lens break and tear up her eyes?

Oh another one, I have a deep seeded fear of water. Like oceans and deep ends of pools. Needless to say I don't know how to swim either.

Some glasses are even permitted alternatives to bulky safety glasses at places like gun ranges. Which is perfect because you can see with corrective lenses.

I do have a pair of glasses. I wear contacts. And it doesn't matter which I'm wearing at the time the fear creeps up.

I've been wearing mine every day since I was ten.

You wear contacts.
