I didn't mention it here because I don't like my random rants to be all-encompassing. I could have mentioned many more people in the other thread, but I didn't. I agree though, Wayne. Hendrix was, is, and will be overrated.

i'm not denying his greatness, i'm just saying he wasn't the "greatest guitar player to have ever lived" like a lot of people seem to believe. in any case, that wasn't the point i was trying to make with that post, so it's irrelevant.

Hendrix? Overrated?

BLASPHEMERS ONE AND ALL!

Like GC said. . .There really wasn't anyone before him with a similar style. Free E-cookies to anyone who can think of one!

similar style being a left handed guitarist who strung his guitar upside down insted of using the convenience of a left handed guitar?
For those that fight for it, life has a flavour that the sheltered will never know.

He didn't even know how to tune a guitar. That explains the uniqueness.

Jimi Hendrix Wikipedia wrote:Hendrix used right-handed guitars, turned upside-down for left-hand playing, and re-strung so that the heavier strings were in their standard position at the top of the neck. This had an important effect on his guitar sound: because of the slant of the Strat's bridge pickup, his lowest string had a bright sound while his highest string had a mellow sound, the opposite of the Stratocaster's intended design.

ofcourse we´ve come a long way and if you go to youtube you'll find many people who can technically run circles around Jimi, but the point is that he is an innovator and changed electric guitar history (much like Jaco did for the electric bass) and that's something that makes him unique

Uniqueness =/= greatness.

I'm pretty unique, but as far as pretty much everything is concerned, I fuckin' suck.

I meant I'm unique like people who've had their face burned off.

Either. Take your pick.

Second one looks like a ghoul from Fallout 3.

His greatness is attributed to his uniqueness. Does this make sense¿
