half of those i've never heard of.

the ones i have heard of are pretty good.

i can't be bothered putting a list together of the bands i like. but i like mostly power and thrash, some black and melo-death. silly metal and it's endless subgenres -_-;;

Yeah once on another forum some guy listed lots and lots of genres of rock and metal I had never even considered being a genre.
Stupid genres too such as
winter metal
electric metal
"math" metal
etc....

Lots of new bands these days want to revolutionize the metal world and create a new genre, but in the end it's just a stupid idea because it sounds almost the same as a similar genre. Like Immortal calling themselves winter metal even though they obviously sound like black metal anyways.

quite. i mean i'm not totally against subgenres, there needs to be a way to know what a band will sound like. but the amount of them these days is just plain rediculous :?

Eh, Black Label Society sounds good but I've only heard one of their songs. I like Disturbed, Godsmack, Mudvayne, Ministry, Pro-Pain, and Rob Zombie, but I'm not much of a metal person.

I did. A whole list even.
And "the hand that feeds" I suggest you check out the bands on that list you don't know. All those bands are really good.
Well except Scorched Earth.

then... why did ya put them? o.O

and none of those are really "metal", emptied. some have metal influences, maybe. but not so much to actually be considered proper metal. >.>

Well I was just listing bands I remembered off the top of my head and I remembered that but after the post I remembered why I don't like them.
Meh, but oh well, doesn't matter.

and emptied, most of the bands you wrote are considered "nu-metal"
which is sort of like fake metal but still rock in a way
examples:
Slipknot
Mudvayne
Korn
Linkin Park

etc....

nu-metal is more like hard rock than metal. i believe it was jonathan davis who came up with the term. what an idiot >.>

who is the idiot? Me?
and I don't really consider Linkin Park or Slipknot that hard.

here read this
http://nsn.trivialbeing.net/009_numetalhash.htm

this isn't my only source for nu-metal knowledge, but it gives you a better view on it

the only "metal" I listen to is Fear Factory.

Does that count, or am I going to get a lecture?

Just kidding, actually fear factory is death/industrial metal.
Still metal. Nice choice.

no. mr davis.

and that link says nothing i haven't heard before. and, if you ask me, was a lil biased >.> but of course, that is just my opinion.

not all nu-metal is that bad. i personally <3 mudvayne, soad, and machine head (first album and latest, although that could also be considered thrash, but lets not get caught up on technicalities) however korn, linkin park etc i do not care for.

the main complaint about nu-metal is that it is too simple, and whiney. i disagree. simplicity, while not as technically great as some "real" metal bands, can still be good (if not great). as for the whiney thing, that's pretty much just an assumption. as not all nu-metal bands have the no-talent-song-writer as korn's jonathan davis. and yes, that's the second time i've insulted that cunt xD

also, i'd like to say that i'm aware it's just your opinion. of course it is. you don't even need to mention the fact. now stop making me type out a lot of text -_-;;

I like KoRn but I do think Davis is a lil bitch. I do not see how Linkin Park is nu-metal but then again I don't even consider them metal.
