Funeral Songs

Postby Spaced Ape » Thu May 18, 2006 4:59 pm

Dunno how many people know this, but some people before they die pick a song or songs they would like to have played during their funeral. I was wondering what you guys would pick. So make a list and in decending order from favorite choice on. (Not too long please, it's not like it's gonna be a world event.)

Mine:

1. Starálfur by Sigur Ros
2. Life by Ocean Machine/Devin Townsend
3. Acid Food by Mogwai
4. Frå Sjåfør Til Passasjer by Kaizers Orchestra

Is there a promised land
Or am I on the journey going to nowhere?
Are the streets paved with gold
Or am I slipping on the mold that slowly grows there?

I've actually thought a lot about this, but since my musical tastes change as I explore new music daily, I can't say anything current.

er, ocean machine is the album, devin townsend is the artist. stupid mislabeled mp3s. but good choice. i was actually considering another song from that same album, "voices in the fan".

"floods" by pantera is another.

too lazy to try and remember anymore that i was thinking of.

Ocean Machine is the band he compilated with to make the album. The album title is Biomech.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocean_Machine

They are now known as the Devin Townsend Band, but since they made the CD while still using the name Ocean Machine, I used their old name rather than their new one.

On another note, ever seen the video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlE6PSp- ... 20townsend

(And hery choosed you to runt he music boards.) (jk pal)

I'll admit that sounded kinda "pop" and a bit gay at first, but it turned out to be a really cool song. Devin's voice is great.

Phish - Maze would be mine, by the way.

5.All of This-Blink-182

These will most likely change in a few years, but hey, I have plenty of time to choose my songs.

what a crappy funeral you're getting.

#1. Charles Manson Never Killed Anyone, obviously(I've re-mastered it so it sounds 4000x better, and not like crap).

I dont know what to play at a funeral. I just know I'm going to be dead, so I dont care.

Well, if I were dead, I would care about some things...

such as not having my body hacked to peices and fed to prisoners of war.

maybe it's not having a good name so leaving the song untitled, rather than being original?

...that made no sense. But I think I get what you mean anyway.
I dont have a complete funeral song list yet and what should be played at a funeral really depends on how someone dies in my opinion but even so I would probably definately still want Arch Enemys "Nemesis" to be played at my funeral.

There's a group called arch enemy and they wrote a track called nemises?

How very apropriate

#1: Fastball - The Way
#2: Modest Mouse - Float On
#3: Muse - Plug In Baby
#4: The Pixies - Where Is My Mind?
#5: Pink Floyd - Brain Damage
#6: Pink Floyd - Eclipse

I would want my funeral not to have depressing music, but music to remember the fun and lighthearted times.
