Starting a thread is like birthing a child. Once it hits 18, you can't control it any longer!!

That only applies when the thread goes on tangents. This one clearly hasn't, if people are still posting several songs' worth of lyrics per page. As long as it remains on topic, I assert my right to claim ownership.

Think of it this way: I created this thread's topic. If the thread moves off topic, it is out of my jurisdiction; but any post within the thread that is on topic is part of the discussion that I heralded. I may not have mod powers, and even if I did I would not apply them here, but I still feel like my wishes concerning the topic should be respected.

Wow, I sound like I'm all serious about this, don't I. I guess I should specify I don't really care, I just sorta care.

Too much care.

So what happens if I divert the thread by bringing up how much I love bongo drums?

You're absolutely free to do so. And if you do, then I have no authority, real or imagined, over any post which relates to that tangent.

"Success is in the eye of the beholder, and it's looking even better over your cold shoulder."
Dresden Dolls - Good Day. Really, I like the lyrics to the whole song, but that stands out.

EDIT: also
"I picked up the pieces of my broken ego
I have finally made my peace as far as you and me go
but I'd love to have you up to see the place
I'd like to do more than survive, I'd like to rub it in your face.

Tone of this song = win.

Been 5 days, I'm double posting:

"By the time you hear this message I'll be gone
Forced to this conclusion by the hands of time,
and a voice that whispers no other choice."

If you don't know who said this, shame on you.

When I want to post in a topic that's more than a few days old, but the last post was made by me, instead of double posting, I copy the content of my last post, delete it, then repost it, but with the new post content addended to it under the headline "EDIT."

Cool. When I want to post in a thread that hasn't been posted in for a few days, and the last post was by me, I double post.

You say the hill's too steep to climb
Just climb it
You say you'd like to see me try
Climbing
You pick the place and I'll choose the time
And I'll climb
The hill in my own way
Just wait a while for the right day
And as I rise above the tree lines and the clouds
I look down
Hear the sound of the things you said today

Fearlessly, the idiot faced the crowd
Smiling
Merciless, the magistrate turns 'round
Frowning
And who's the fool who wears the crown?
And go down in your own way
And every day is the right day
And as you rise above the fear-lines in his brow
You look down
Hear the sound of the faces in the crowd

-pink floyd-
fearless

Mercy Me by Alkaline Trio wrote:It's been a long day, living with this
It's been a long time since I felt so sick
I took a long walk straight back home
I could have walked back to San Francisco
I used to long for a time alone
I used to long for a place of my own
And I'm losing faith in everything
I'm lost, so lost, I'm lost at sea, you see

I used to long for broken bones
I used to long for a casket to call my own
I never had a problem facing fear
But I'm done, over and out, my dear

And oh, mercy me
God bless catastrophe
There's no way in hell
You'll ever live to see through this so
Drive yourself insane tonight
It's not that far away
And I just filled up your tank earlier today
Yeah...

It's been a long day, living with this
It's been a long time since I felt so sick
I took a long walk straight back home
I could have walked back to Chicago
I used to long for a time alone
I used to long for a place of my own
And I've lost faith in everything
I'm lost, so lost, I'm lost without you

Oh, mercy me
God bless catastrophe
There's no way in hell
We'll ever live to see through this so
Drive yourself insane tonight
It's not that far away
And I just filled up your tank earlier today
Yeah...

So drive yourself insane tonight
It's not that far away
And I just filled up your tank earlier today
Yeah... yeah...

Something about this song really gets me. It's got that nice cheery punk tone to it that always makes me bob my head. Fun to sing along to as well. Nothing is better than driving along on a warm day with the window rolled down smoking a cigarette and playing this song. Always makes me happy.

If the line "And oh, mercy me, god bless catastrophe" is sung in the rhythm I think it is, it reminds me of the line "Oh my, mind is all, oh my, mind is all, oh my mind is all made up, so I'll have to sleep in it" from Doing The Cockroach by Modest Mouse. The lyrics in general just sound like Mouse, really.

I don't really listen to Modest Mouse so I don't know the song you're referring to. But I can say the band sounds nothing like Modest Mouse. Especially the vocals.

I don't expect there are any bands that sound anything like Modest Mouse. Especially not in vocals.

 You're giving Modest Mouse way too much credit. There are a lot of bands in this world, even if most of them are outside your horizons. If you're into this sort of thing, I wouldn't be surprised if you enjoyed a lot of British indie rock music, which is known to take a similar path. Also, MMs vocalist reminds me kind of of the guy from the Veils.

EDIT: by the Veils I mean these guys, if you haven't heard of them. I'm not really a fan, but they're okay.

We met this guy at BDO a couple of years ago, and we were having what seemed like a conversation, but he was so high we couldn't tell if he knew we were actually there or not. Then he laughed a whole lot and kind of wandered off.
