Play Guitar?

Postby MlfnctnngInsnty » Mon Jul 14, 2008 9:51 pm

Hello.
I've been playing guitar for a bit over a year and have a California (brand name) Strat and a Fender acoustic, which I rarely play since it's HUGE compared to me.

I've been wanting to get a new electric guitar, but don't know what to aim for. I kind of want to get a Les Paul, but I have a friend who says that most of them suck. Do they really?

(Any recommendations or heads up about certain guitars that might help me conclude my decision would be cool.)

If you play a Les Paul, you are cool. Your friend obviously had a lobotomy a while back.

A lot of different brands are actually the exact same guitar, made in the exact same factory but branded differently. Dont let expensive labels fool you.

Nonono!

You are getting AXL JackNife or FireAx, then you sell your soul for Blues fame and then you play the most deppressing and brutal metal about trains!

Or just steal the pick of destiny, your call.

Buy used. They're usually half the price of new and already have character.

If you're going from a strat to les paul you may be surprised by the thicker neck. Keep that in mind. The fatter neck actually made me prefer my squire strat to me Epiphone LP. Look into a fat strat, methinks. Raunchy humbucker tone, classic telecaster bass.

I play a AXL Fireax. Brand new for 200$, plus free tuner. AXL's rock, but les pauls are great to. Epiphone as well.

Interesting, I think I could work with a bigger neck, but is the body of the guitar noticably bigger than that of a Strat?

If I did buy one, it would be from a store, so I could test it out a bit and maybe make my final decision from there.

If you're buying from a person who doesn't let you test it out, they're trying to rip you off anyways.

Stores cost way more than people.

No, having replied means that I'm bored enough to waste my time typing.
