You could at least explain why.

i really want to see how low this band is gonna go. they've already made the same record what, 5 times now? a shitty cover album to chash in on. and now they've lost a key member. i think they're next album is gonna be right down there with the likes of limpbizkit ^^

Yeah, when artists do covers, that happens more often than not.

not really. i look at most covers/remixes and i'll be like "hmm, interesting take on the original". but with korn is more like "ew.. turn it off".

check out sikth's tupelo, it's a nick cave and the bad seeds cover.

Ok, cool.
I could suggest a cover, but I'll just get flamed for it because certain people will probably go apeshit over it.

Fuck it, I suggest Marilyn Manson's cover of Sweet Dreams. It was the first track I ever heard by him. Another Brick in the Wall wasn't too bad either.

Let the flaming commence!

i knew you were going to say sweet dreams, and ditto. one of the only things i can still listen to by him. because he did new things with the song, and made it work. that's why so many people can't cover shit right, they're too scared to "fuck it up". so they play the song pretty much note-by-note and it's not impressive at all. ironically though, his recent cover of depeche mode's (who i love, btw) "personal jesus" is one of those songs. bleh.

i haven't heard the cover of another brick in the wall, but i'm sure, sure they messed it up. you just can't fuck with certain bands' songs. floyd is one of those bands.

why hate christianity? it's his choice, let him go be a sheep if he wants. :)

1) I hear you. I think the reason why it did so well, was because the original "Sweet Dreams" had a sort of passive tone to it, so as to give a feeling of apathy of the cruelty of people. Manson came in and put a more sinister spin to it, and as you said, twisted with the scoring around a bit to make it fit his style. Manson has his share of bad covers, but this one makes up for it.

2) I never heard the original Personal Jesus, so I can't compare it.

3) I can't remember how the Manson version of Another Brick in the Wall was, but I think it used similar background music. So you're probably right.
4) I hate christianity because it tends to brainwash people if they let it. Hell, my grandmother almost did it to me, feeding me her Jehova's witness bullshit when I was 6 until she had me conviced that my father was coming back from the dead. After awhile, I was brought to reason. Since then, I've always been weary of religion in general. In Head's case, it helped, and so long as he continues keep it to himself and his family that's fine.

But however, the way I see it, this "help" is little more than a placebo. It exists merely to make people feel that there is certainty in this insane world when there is very little, if any. In other words, I veiw religion, particularly organized religion, to be little more than a mass delusion.
That's just the way I feel about it.

I know , that's why I said it can brainwash people IF they let it. But there are others like it, take the Mormons for an example. They have all kinds of secret rituals they won't let the public know about. Sounds suspicious if you ask me. I hate all religions equally, but not neccesarily those followning them. If you can have a sense of humor about it, then your cool with me 8) .

And you better be glad you don't live in the Vatican. I heard being a catholic is hell there.

I'd rather be a catholic at the Vatican than a baptist. Those two hate each other.
