WHAT ABOUT WOLF'S RAIN!

yeah.

anyways, I've seen:
Helsing - shame its only 13 episodes I want a sequel damit
Vandread - not many people I know have heard of this, it's good all 26 episodes
Wolf's Rain - as far as I'm concerned, one of the best
Full Metal Alchemist - I dont know when it comes on anymore, I shall buy the series though when I stop spending my money on cds

and others that youve all already listed like inuyasha etc...

Okay, that looked very homo-erotic. O_o

In other news, I noticed something at the store today. They're releasing a new comic book called "mange", which contains... well, manga. It cost roughly a dollar and contains 200 pages. Shows how much that japanese crap is worth. They could've atleast taken the time to shadow or put some detail into their drawings.

Different cultures have different kinds of names.
Anime wasn't created by americans.

No, but almost every American reads it. Names gets translated from other forgein countries to America, so why not translate all this anime stuff? What's wrong with Bob, Thelma Lou or Earl?

Yeah I know lots of americans read it but so do the japanese, chinese etc...
Americans aren't the only ones who are fans of anime.
And when do names get translated to american?

Names are names, they aren't supposed to get translated.
Even movies that come out in other countries, they translate the whole movie or have subtitles, so the audience can get the movie and watch it and get the meaning, but names aren't translated because names are names.

It's like if I named my son Adam or something. Then he grew up to be a famous actor, except his movies came out in japan only or something, then, unless he changed his name or had a different name in his movie, it would stay adam whether the rest of the script was in japanese or not. It's his natural name, it can't be translated, it's a name.

I understand that lots of japanese names though have meanings to us, like Sakura means a type of flower or something, but them are just names of people. If it was an actual flower, then it could be translated because it's a flower. You get what I mean. I hope.

Yes, but some names can't be spoken in a certain language without sounding totally retarded. This is for cartoon names only. Take Wally from Dilbert for instance. We got that translated into "Jølle".

And let's say norwegian cartoons suddenly got as popular as anime. How would you feel going around saying "Hey, did you catch what Øystein Sunde said yesterday?" or "Wow, that Ola Åberg sure got some guts!". If something is international, you should be able to speak it in every language. Unless the whole show is in Japanese and subtitled of course. Then you could keep the original names. But when it's in SPOKEN english, it's just no point. If you're a fanatic about the show, watch it in the original language.

Well the absolite anime fanatics here are so crazy about it they try to learn the japanese language to be able to watch it without subtitles or dubbing
Everyone else is just use to the names though, I mean to me anyways, I don't really think it all sounds foolish, names from japan not being translated into english.
oh well, to each their own.

that would suck...
soon discrimination will come
some people would be declared outsiders and wars will begin between the "cool" folk and the outsiders
and if a person is declared an outsider he won't feel shame for stealing from or even killing the normal people, because that's just what the society expects from them
bad policy makes people bad

No, making it anime would make the whole concept gay. And I don't mean "gay" like in "sucky", I mean GAY. Japan has this incredible gift to turn everything homo-erotic.

i love anime...not like, go to a convention where i wear a red shirt and carry around a sword made of cardboard calling myself inuyasha... i don't really care for that show too much...it's ok, but the story seems...kinda off and pointless... it seems basically like they just run around killing stuff, then fund some villiager who tells them about some new enemy or curse or legend that the inevitably have to fight... i much prefer samurai champloo....i like the quiet stoic guy. fullmetal alchemist is really good, too...it has a very deep and emotional story. ghost in the shell is a very good concept, what with the robots who are better than humans, and humans creating something with minds better than their own and all that...it has good potential, but i don't think they used it... oh, and fullmetal alchemist comes on monday thru wednesday at like, 12
