Silent Hill

Postby Spaced Ape » Sun Apr 23, 2006 4:23 am

I've never played the game itself, although now I want to. This movie was one of the coolest movies I have ever seen. You all have to watch it.

Points of interest:

-The unexpected triggering of the so-called "Darkness".

-The story that you try to add up yourself, but fail because the truth is just a little too fucked up to guess.

-The police woman and the ladder

-A little girl dancing in vaginal blood.

Are the streets paved with gold
Or am I slipping on the mold that slowly grows there?

Well actually it was a bit more than vaginal blood. But think extreme penetration tentecle rape.

seen it today and some scenes were really really frightening (surround <3)
but the movie could have been a lot better, if it was much more confusing..that religious stuff just didn´t fit to the rest of the movie..

My god. It was so awesome at the end, all those barbed wires, all the gore and people getting sliced, and that huge triangle-head-man was awesome.

No need to feast with violence for sometime.

Since I´m a bit too simple minded (and because their writers are gay), could someone tell me did the girl and her mom die in the end?

I think they did. It didn't say that they died, but it seems so.

Yeah, they died. The movie was alright, stary wise it could have been a little better, but the violence and special effects were kick ass.

No they didn't die. The truth is they ended up in really another dimension in the world. There's the regular world, the grey foggish one where they are now trapped in, and the Darkness world.

This trio of dimensions is even used int he game.

awesome, I thought that the grey world was the afrterlife too. But that's pretty cool. I think I should get my hands on that game.

Me too. I want to know more about this stuff, and perhaps, more about the pyramid-head.

I saw the movie just yesterday. I almost liked it , but the actors were crappy, especially the little girl at the begining of the movie till they ended up in Silent Hill. The whole action of the movie was also not good. The only things that draw my attention was the monsters and the way the city and the athmosphere were designed. Some of the scenes were supposed to thrill us, i don't know, i don't get so thrilled. Anyway, i think the most scary part was when the mother adventure in the depths to find her girl, and she meets with this bunch of nurses monsters that reacted to light. That was the most interested part of the movie. The ending is unfinished which i like . Oh, and i bet there is going to be a part 2 of the movie. The game i didn't play yet, and i don''t think i'm gonna play it soon.

Oh men, you should have played the game first. 'Cos it
a) gives explanations to a few moments of the movie;
b) is much much better (especially Silent Hill 2 :wink: my favourite) than the movie itself .
And also it is very interesting to read the plot analysis of the whole SH series (games/movies and books). I dunno if there is one in English, but I've got one in Russian =)
All in all I think that the ideas and the world created by the authors of SH is just amazing.
P.S. And the music (SH2) is good =)

---

Oh, and one more (as long as I can't post new topics =)))
The whole SH idea is based a bit on the old movie called 'Jacob's Ladder' (it is also written in the Wiki article). Well, I really recommend watching it, the movie is great.
Over =)
