Samurai Jack

Postby HeRetiK » Wed Aug 29, 2007 1:28 pm

I came across the name of this series a bunch of times before and it's visual style intrigued me. It started to intrigue me even more once I realized that it was made by the creator of Dexter's Laboratory. ( i loved this show )

So now I got myself a bunch of episodes and I love it. It has a great visual language, despite it's cartoony style.

How about you, seen the show? liked it? hated it?

Also, here's a lovely fight scene from Samurai Jack, for the ones that don't know what I'm talking about.

My sister watches this all the time on Fox Kids (or whatever they call themseves now).
This scene looks quite artistic. The black and white parts of it are the coolest, but that's what it mainly consists of anyway. Still, I prefer Dexter and Johnny Bravo.

Nice fight.. and nice visual effects. I just know " Dexter´s Laboratory " but I have never seen a hole episode.

I watched some of the episodes. The animation style is in deed nice but that I find is it's only good attribute. Probably because it isn't based on plot of character development. The entire animation is just about being sent to the future, trying to get back to the past, and having to fight the entire time which gets overly boring.

Loved it when it was on TV.

Then it wasn't anymore.

And I was let down by cartoon network ever since.

At least you still can receive it. I haven't been able to receive Cartoon Network in Austria for about 7 years or so. It was a hard time.

It was about 7 years ago that every one of their shows became either kids shows or anime.

In fact, Cow and Chicken is probably the wackiest madness I have ever seen. I love how their parents are two pair of feet.

Cow and Chicken is a horrible Ren & Stimpy ripoff, allthough it comes from the same animators.

This site used to have all the SamJack episodes... Now just the first season and two others. Still worth checking out IMO.

Cow and Chicken made me sick to my stomach.
i.e. It was awesome.

Norbert (the blonde older brother) and Daggett (the dark haired younger brother).

Fun fact: The slapping fight that they did on the show was once mimicked by me and my younger brother, resulting in my younger brother getting a tooth knocked out.

Not really, since I am generally sarcastic and laid-back unless provoked (which my brother does often, just like in the show.) And like Norbert, I love the little dumbshit.

I can barely remember anything specific from that show. All I remember is watching it all the time. Used to love how they didn't use the black out lines around their characters like most cartoons.
