Persepolis

I have to see this movie. Soon.

It's the animated screen adaption of a comic book by an Iranian woman, the story of a girl growing up in the Iran. The story sounds like something new and thoughtful. The drawing style I immediately fall in love with.

I like the animation style, as well. It'd be better if I could actually understand it, but I get the whole underlying tone of rebellion. It looks good, but needs English subtitles.

I saw it tonight and it's really charming. And it also got a nice a sense of humor, despite the seriousness.

One thing I loved was that I also made little side-punches at the urban middle-class punks and other "movements" that scream for revolution but neither do something about it nor have any idea what a real revolution is like.

The ending was rather unsatisfying, but I guess, following the story, anything else would have seemed put on.

So if it looks like something you might like, go for it. I can definitely recommend this movie.
