Watchmen

Postby S. [Burned] Y. » Sun Mar 08, 2009 12:46 am

I just got done watching the movie.

At first I was quite skeptic on how it would be. I've had my shares of, "This is going to be great!" and then later, "I wish I had spent that money on a muffin." But, luckily, this wasn't the case.

While the movie is based upon a comic, which features a alternate universe with superheros and Nixon's third term during the cold war, it is narrated by a superhero named Rorschach by using his journal.

The movie begins when a superhero, The Comedian, is found dead. Rorschach decides to investigate further into the matter, including interviewing superheros that have gone into retirement. After a almost three hour movie of soft core sex scenes, Saw like blood scenes including the biting of a human cheek, the cutting of human flesh, a series of broken fingers, and instant killing of humans leaving only the blood to run down the faces of walls and human alike, the movie comes to a fitting end. While the end is not the same to the comics end, it is otherwise, a accepted ending to a action packed movie.

Should you see the movie?
"Do it!"

I think it was a good movie as well... not great, but good. Very much appreciated the tearing apart of flash and goresplosions. Loved the Rorschach character. Interesting, unexpected ending. I know the difference between the ending of the movie and the comics, however I didn't read the whole comic itself, so I actually like the movie's ending more.

Liked the soundtrack very much, however I've rarely seen a movie were the music seemed so off and unfitting. Felt more like "duuude, I really love that song, let's use it for the movie. you know, after all we have the budget to get all the licenses and stuff."

I liked the intro into the movie with the song, felt very...nostalgic. You're right, imo, some songs seemed like they just wanted to throw it in.

The movie annoys me, but only because of all of the parents who are bringing their kids to see it. It seems like all anyone's doing is going, "Hay, Look! A superhero movie! Let's bring little Johnny and Susie to see it! Who cares that's a R-rated movie and Susie is only 6?"

After that thought process, they pull a "OMG why didn't anyone tell me there was sex and a blue penis! The guy that sold me the tickets should have taken a look at Susie and Johnny. SHame on the ticket guy for not telling me how to raise my children!"

I am sickened by humanity.

Watched it last night. Awesome i think. Not necessarily the most amazing thing i've ever seen, so dont think that, but it was excellent.

Except what happened to Rorschak, that sucked. Hard.

@kristinadot

lol. that is hilarious. i agree though, people should relize that a superhero movie doesn't necessarily mean "for kids"

...blue penis.

lol

I enjoyed the comic too much for me to want to see the movie. I don't have to see a visual interpretation to every single thing I read.

I hear all about "grate" movies but very few live up to the expectations.

I'm putting watchmen on my list though.

I was *giggling too much at this film to really appreciate it. Alright, it was good. It's always the same end; original book far better then the film, though the film had it's merits. For something that's been in the pipeline for many, many years, it didn't seem like anything special or magnificent, which was disappointing as lot's of people have told me how much the graphic novel rocked.

And yes, Rorshach was thee best character.

Some points; felt like they had to cram too much of everything into the time they had. Was lost on some aspects of the story wherein the story wasn't fleshed out or explained properly, like it was in the book.

*Hallelujah. Camel toes. And blue penises.

I'm not one who is against watching films online, but Watchmen really should be watched on the big screen. Or at least wait until its out on DVD, because the shoddy quality you'll get from a cam version won't let you experience all the outstanding visuals Watchmen has to offer.

Necro'd.

Saw this today. I actually followed the storyline really well, and the characters were fairly engaging. They way overdid the sexual scenes, and the fighting was cheesy, but overall, I enjoyed it. Rorschach was actually not my favorite character, I liked the "villain." Even though I do don't believe he was the bad guy.
My question, however, is what would come next? With the journal going to be published, all the peace will be destroyed. Based on a lie or not, it's still peace. Will it cause nuclear holocaust? Was the Doctor perhaps mistaken about the outcome of letting the populace know? Or did he know all along?
I think he did.

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT
In the ending size where he killed Rorschach, he hesitated and thought about it. To me, I think he was thinking whether or not Rorschach's death would affect the outcome. Jussayin'.

I watched this movie last year for my 17th birthday (the year where one can finally watch an R-rated movie without parental supervision) . . . My friends kept covering my eyes when Dr. Manhattan was around. . .
