Haunting In Connecticut or Silent Hill?

Postby Sol » Tue Sep 01, 2009 8:06 pm

Which of these two movies do you prefer?
Judge them first on a horror stand-point,
then on a philosophical meaning perspective.

I honestly enjoyed both greatly. I would say "Haunting" definately beat Silent Hill with the fear, but both had very notorious story-lines and meanings.

Yes "philosophy."

Every belief should be respected.
In Haunting In Connecticut, the belief that they could communicate with the dead and capture an individuals soul/essense for personal use was addressed.
In Silent Hill, they announced what they believed an example of the after-life would be like. They believed that souls who were damned, remained non-resting until they were relieved and revenge was sentenced upon those who murdered/raped/defiled them to begin with.

I believe that any woman who gets married MUST be completely submissive to her husband.

There, I proved the idiocy of such a statement.

Silent Hill.

also, that doesn't really sound like the message of Silent Hill at all.
It wasn't really about belief, anyway.
Don't really know where you're getting that.

Edit: This was @Sol.
Góðan daginn.

Just like every "there's a ghost in the house" movie there's ever been. Summed up: Lotta double-takes.

I'm not going to post anything for a couple weeks, maybe more. That way no one can criticize my respect for them.

All I meant by the "respecting other's beliefs," was every philosophy I take into account and think about it. I do not judge people by their religion or daily practices. I don't take pride in saying someone elses beliefs are lower than my own. I didn't want to sound politically correct.

@Frosty and Eschatos/anybody else who agrees: I'm sorry I care about what your beliefs are. I'm sorry I respect you. I apologize furthermost for stating idiocracy on the site.

...oh, and I'm sorry for apologizing too much. :(

Wah-fuckin-wah. Give me a break. If you can't hack it on an internet message board, how do you manage living in the outside world?

That's why I don't plan on living long. I'm 16 and I don't see my life much longer.

Now you see why I don't talk to anybody at my school. Thank you for insulting my lifestyle too.

killing yourself is a very selfish thing to do. all i have to say is please think about the people that love you and consider if you really want to be a piece of shit and hurt them like that.

I'm just fucking sick of the shit mankind gives one another! I was fucking raped at the age of eleven (that doesn't surprise me; I had it coming and I desserved it), but I would highly appreciate people to acknowledge that I'm a human-being too! I'm sick of being treated like an animal.

I'm already a shadow at my school. Half the people don't even know I'm there. I just wish there were people out there who would hug those who need it. Just a hug would do wonders.

Ugh... I hate self pity. I hate feeling weak.

That's what I'm trying to do, but every single one of you have trampled me into the dust everytime I attempt to show that I care/love/respect you guys. I'm used to criticism, but not like this. This is me... No one at my school or anyone from my family sees this from me.

It's not like I'm going to make a difference anyway. I'm just a kid with an out-spoken voice.

@Dickwad: I don't think it would hurt them if I just disappeared. Nah, no one cares. You guys sure as hell don't. And what's the most sad part about all this, is because I consider you guys the closest to "good" friends I have.

I hate my life.

Hey, if you're looking for a forum, try this one: http://www.the-scholars.com

I'm a mod there when I have the time. It's based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms stuff (Chinese history stuff, and the Koei video games that sprouted from it). You don't have to know shit about it to participate, cause like every other forum there's a general area. People there are more patient, and it's more encouragement, less school of hard knocks.

Just tell 'em Kristina sent ya.

In reference to what you actually said, Frosty's right. You have to rise above your past. I've been raped too, and you just have to let it go. You can't dwell on something like that your entire life. Or any other traumatic thing in your life. The world is either shit, or it isn't. That's up to you.

I consider it shit, along with me and everyone else involved. It's conversations like this that get's my memory to remember.

I'm not going anywhere, and I'm not joining another "softer" forum. I'm stronger than that. I can handle this, just let me get on my feet again.

It's times like these that I hate as it happens, but I love it later on for the release. I can't release my emotions that much, so I take advantage of when I can.

I never thought I would hear that. I hope you aren't treating me any differently because I brought this up. What I hate more than self-pity is the simpathy that comes with it.
