Alice in Motherfucking Wonderland

Postby Zyn » Sun Mar 07, 2010 3:00 am

Tim Burton delivers with a convincing cast and an intriguing twist on an old story's future. Set when Alice is 19 and returns to wonderland, the storyline was complex but not confusing, and only had one part (why the hell was the White Lady just sitting in her Goddamn Castle?????) that didn't connect for me. The three-D effects were unnecessary, but Burton worked well with them and didn't do anything overly dramatic to show them off, but incorporated them nicely into nearly every scene.
Not everyone's gonna like it, but I damn well did. Worth the 8 -bucks and 3 hours wait (the first showing sold out  )

Too many sequels and remakes these days.

There's no such thing as originality anymore.

No, there is. (If you use a loose definition of the word, anyway.) It's just that originality doesn't sell anymore.

anymore? did it ever?

originality usually only gets the credits it deserves long after the fact.

I heard it was really well done. My girl went to see it without me though so I can't rule on it personally.

The make-up and costumes were. As for teh script, it was nothing special. I was expecting more from it, because of all teh hype.

Then again, Twiloght had -tons- of hype.

In fact, I'm pretty sure [Mild spoiler: gouging eyes out] isn't in many "little kid movies".

Rather disappointed. I really liked the visual representation, but the movie as a whole was lacking something. There weren't any twists, there was no tension, no punchline...

the story just goes along without any real highs. the criticial situations are resolved too easily, without any real hassle for the protagonists. the ending is nice in a way, but not really satisfying.

I don't watch Tim Burton for the story, the only movie he's made that had a pretty good story in my opinion is Edward Scissorhands. I still liked Alice.

At Voly: You mean you didn't like The Corpse Bride or The Nightmare Before Christmas? Although I do agree that Edward Scissorhands was a good movie.

(Still haven't seen Alice yet. . . Still really want to. . .)

The Corpse Bride was disapointing, all the others were good.

GO SEE ALICE IN WONDERLAND!

I don't mean to be offensive seeing as how I'm gonna be the first person to mention drugs in this thread. I wanna see the movie tripping shrooms. The Disney cartoon was a trip, I want to know what the whole 3-D experience will do to my brain.

Eh, the claymation ones don't count. Directing claymation is easy, the performing is the hard part.
