A Part

Postby HeRetiK » Thu Apr 24, 2008 9:54 pm

Something that has been on my mind for quite a while now. Actually the basic idea developed during working on "Lifeblood Colors". Anyways. Thank you Mr. Reznor for making such wonderful music. I wouldn't have been able to capture these hazy-melancholic sunday afternoon feelings without it.

Dunno if my opinion counts for much, but here goes.

Though the idea is tried and true(Perhaps even bordering on exhausted), the execution is both interesting and refreshing.
The music fit well.
The use of the specific puzzle symbol contrasted with both the False matching symbols and the other pieces that didn't fit gave a sense of connection and gratification when you came to understand what it all meant.

Good 'un.

Very nice. A few minutes well spent watching it.

Besides fitting in general, the music flowed well with the video.

thanks for the kind words everyone. the overall story might not be most original around, but I guess that's because these things happen all the time. however I hope that I was somewhat able to tell it as a personal story and not something that's been retold for the thousands of time. and I hope I was able to get the feeling and mood across.

bird7795, you made me lol.

Frosty pretty much summed up my opinions as well.
I loved the short, and it left me with some unawsered questions, which is always good. The title is also very good because of the double meaning. You must have been very productive, since Ghosts was released a couple of weeks ago. Do you plan to participate in the contests? I reckon you have a good chance of winning. It may also mean a breakthrough for you if your name is associated with NIN, officially.

Since I've done it and am proud of it I will give it a shot. If it would really become part of the closer selection or at least somewhat recognized by Mr. Reznor it'd be one of the most awesomest things ever. A nice side effect is, that since the tracks are released under the creative commons, I'll be able to finally take part in animation contests without having to look for some other (less fitting) audio.

Maybe I'll make some other vids with other Ghosts tracks as well. It's very inspiring.

All i can say is... surrealism. Surrealism is good. This short made me think of letting someone you are meant to be with go, trying to find someone else, but the pieces just don't fit. Am i right? I dunno I'm tired.

That would have been interesting, but it would have required different music.

I guess the pictures are both conclusive enough to get the general idea across, and vague enough to leave open space for interpretation.

Let's just say it's based on a true story.

Realy makes one think. I had thoughts about the many tragedy's i attended in my work as firefighter.. A lot of fatal accidents came back to me..
Family puzzles with a piece missing..

First step to making you a better english speaker.

Tragedies. On plural words that end in a "Y" drop it and add an "ies" (Ex: tragedy -> tragedies) This shows there is more than one.(Ex: There were five tragedies this year.)
The single apostrphe when used at the end of a word and an s (Ex: tragedy's) in possesive. (Ex: The tragedy's devestation was higher than expected.)

tragedies - more than one tragedy

tragedy's - belonging to "tragedy"
