I'm going to this tonight. Mostly for SkyEatsAirplane, but the Overseer is pretty tight too.

EDIT: The Overseer is replacing Emarosa because they couldn't make the show. Thank God.

is the band name "the overseer" a reference to the fallout games?

They're a Christian Metalcore band, so I kinda think it's more of a religious name.

@Brandon - HTD was amayzeen. That's the last time their current drummer will play in this state, he's leaving the band to become a minister after the 12 days of Christmas tour. I got signatures and such.

That's cool, I got them to sign a shirt for warped tour. Their show was awesome. A guy crowd surfing fell and broke his knee open

Metalcore music. Christian lyrics.

Easy concept.

Yes^

Edit: Well they're not as religious in their lyrics as Haste the Day is.

I'm sorry, I'd rather not mix in propaganda with music. Carry on.

I think their all good musicians, and I like their music, so I just ignore some of the slightly religious lyrics. :)

That seems to be everyone's excuse. But I don't see you and others listening to Skinhead/Neo-Nazi bands, which also have great musicians.

Same here. And I am a Christian, I don't mind that you call it propaganda, as it probably is, but I do subscribe to some of their beliefs and therefore lyrics.

I hope that's a joke. Otherwise, that's the most narrow-minded comment I've ever heard. And if so, I'm very surprised at you Wayne.

I've heard good, and I've heard bad. But I don't think it's fair to judge their musical skill on the fact that they're christians. But that's just my opinion.

The point is music comes from the heart, and them hearts be tainted.

It just sounds like a selling point to me. Like one of the bands I saw at Monsterfest on the MySpace stage (every band on this stage sucked anyway, but) at the end of one of their songs yelled out "We're a Christian band, but we don't care what you think!"

Now honestly, if they didn't care what I think than why the fuck bother telling me in the first place? Are you trying to make enemies or win allies? It's not like if I were in a band I'd yell out "We're a band of varying religions and creeds, but we don't care what you think!"

I just think the whole idea is ridiculous. Can't you just be musical without a religious slant? Are you trying to appease God with your tunes? If so, then why not just right a solo piece and sing/play it in your closet?

Most if not all music is about the writer of the music. If the writer's Christian, the music is likely to be infused with Christian beliefs and/or morals.

Some people take pride in their beliefs, and like to express it with music, art, or whatever. I think it's nice that they can apply their passion for what they believe in, and put it into something they love, like music. Some may not agree with whatever beliefs they are applying to their music, but there are people who do. That's where the individuality of music comes it. To me, it's the most distinguished way to express. From classical composers to the modern musician. They're not trying to gain attention by shouting out their religious belief, they're just proud of it. This doesn't have to apply to religion either.

Ok, yeah, that' was stupid. But if they had said "We are doing this for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" and left it at that? I don't see any real harm.

Are you trying to make enemies or win allies?

Both? Why does anyone tell anyone what their beliefs are?

It's not like if I were in a band I'd yell out "We're a band of varying religions and creeds, but we don't care what you think!"

That's the point. You wouldn't yell that out. BECAUSE you are of varying religions and creeds. It just wouldn't make sense. Neo-Nazi bands talk about Naziism. Satanist bands talk about Satan. Christian bands talk about... who woulda guessed? Christianity.
