The soul is located in the pineal gland.

The above post highlights through irony the exact reason why I don't believe in the soul.

No, in the same sense that the taste of an apple is not the same as an apple.

A simile to consciousness.
Is there a promised land
Or am I on the journey going to nowhere?
Are the streets paved with gold
Or am I slipping on the mold that slowly grows there?

The mind is a quality of the brain.

So what is the heart?
I've never seen heart and mind as the same thing, since they often don't agree.

The heart just pumps blood and shit. I've no idea how it became connected to love and impulse.

The mind is the collective functions and tendencies of the brain.

The egyptians believed that the heart was the seat of the mind and soul. They didn't know what the brain was for. I'm guessing that's where it comes from.

Also, when you love someone, your heart flutters? I dunno.

I thought your stomach fluttered? Or, y'know, writhed in sudden pain.

My heart doesn't flutter.

Or, actually it does. But I'm not sure why, cause its not from love, and it kinda freaks me out when it does.

The collective functions and tendencies of your brain fall out of balance.

@Kristina - Sometimes I feel my heart flutter randomly as well. It usually happens when I've been inactive for a few hours (sitting at the computer, usually). My grandfather has had a number of heart attacks, so I've been worried about it, because I know that sort of thing can be hereditary.

It doesn't happen enough for me to know what spurs it. I've got heart probs in my med history, too. My dad needed a triple bypass after his attacks (before he was 40) and my gramps needed a quadruple.

So with those common factors, I'm thinkin its not a good thing.

Do you guys get sudden pains in your heart as well? Like something squeezes it temporarily then quickly lets go again? This has been happening to me occasionally for about the past three years, but I'm not sure if its normal or not.

I sometimes feel a lingering spike of pain through the upper part of my right lung (no idea what causes it, if anything), but other than that no chest pain.

Yeah, no pain. Just like... a feeling comparable to holding your breath, but in my heart instead of my lungs.

Well I don't smoke, and I get squeezing heart pains :(

@Anarch: didn't Kristina say that she only recently started again once Jimi was born?
