Christmas Lists!

Postby dot. » Mon Dec 07, 2009 3:33 am

Just outta curiosity. People keep askin me what I want for Christmas, and I'm not really sure. The only thing that I can even possibly think of is for Matt to pop the big question - But as we've only been together for year, I don't see that happening, nor am I sure -I'm- even ready for it.

So's anyone else having that issue? And if not, what are you hoping that the fat man will bring ya?

peace and happiness for all on earth?

if that's too much, then just some peace and quiet for me please. no nephews screaming for computer help, no friends asking for advice, no questions if i wanna game particular game X, no family obligations, just some time to relax.

actual physical presents, maybe parts of a new pc i'm gonna build for my car (yes, i got a car, and now i'm broke), to power the 7" touchscreen i bought with my last few euros (120 bucks, not bad).

other things that would be nice would be some more time to spend with marinda, or being able to go to england again sooner than next summer.

Nothing.

Fuck Christmas. My flatmates are all going to spend it with their parents, so I'm pretty much getting my holiday wish of the house to myself anyway. The only Christmas gifts I'll get will be from MD's secret santa and from one of my friends in the south island, and I already know she's getting a DVD of some sort. (Holidays are our excuse to buy each other CDs/DVDs we want without feeling guilty about wasting precious money on material objects such as those).

Not celebrating it this year. I feel no need to recognize the Christianization of a pagan tradition with rabid consumerism.

I don't celebrate holidays, but, since everyone else refuses to not get me a present, I'm looking into a new MP3. Anyone had a Walkman E-340? I can't find many reviews on it, and would like some personal opinions.

I'm not celebrating christmas, I'm celebrating family-members-giving-me-stuff-for-free day.

Haha! Nice.

And Zyn, Ipods are awesome. If you can get ahold of a 30gb classic, you won't be let down, I promise. Mine's been through hell and high coke spills, and it's still kickin. I'm a lil surprised its done this well. I bought mine refurbished from Target.

^Agreed. My iPod is an invincible little trooper.

@Anarch: do you also give your family members stuff for free?

@Topic: my old flatmate invited me to her new house for Christmas lunch because she felt bad about me spending Christmas alone, which, while I wasn't particularly worried about spending it alone, was nice of her.

I spilled Dr. Pepper INSIDE my iPod, and it still works. I've had it for almost 3 years.

If only my family had the money for an Ipod...sadly, I can only get an MP3 of half the value.

that said, there are pmp's (that would be portable media player, the proper term these days) for half the money with great capabilities. sometimes better'n apple's ipod line.
take almost everything by cowon, for example. or some of the archos or iriver stuff.

Nope, and I'm not expected to. The households each buy gifts for the individuals, so my parents pay for any and all gifts that have my name in the "From" field.

EDIT: If anybody saw this as an incomplete post, it's because I accidentally hit the submit button when I was still writing it.

nice.
i had to spend the last bit of my cash on a bottle of whiskey for my grandma (one of the smoothest whiskies i could find), a bottle of red porto (+/- 20 years old) for my dad (though i'm planning on drinking it with him), and a handbag for my mom (can't use her current one due to frozen shoulder).
how'd you manage to get away with not having to pay?

edit:
at topic,

That would work for me...

Az it is so nice to see you post. Where have you been hiding?

I really can't think of anything that I would ask for. If I really want something I guess I just go buy it.

Christmas is the birthday of my savior. That I will celebrate but it sure has nothing to do with money unless it means that I am supposed to help someone more in need than myself.

I find I get much more satisfaction from giving than recieving.

Tops on my list ... hmmm .. a new home on the beach just south of San Diego.

Is that too much? :)

heh, been having a few tough moments, didn't have enough of me left to go online, be it msn or MD.

christmas for me is mostly an excuse to get together with those you like and have fun, it makes for an easily pegged date, and people know what to expect, which can be handy.
