@Azgarth: Are they good books?

I got an X-Box 360 and the game Left 4 Dead 2.

I wish. My family and I are really low on money (with it being around Christmas and all). But we think we might have it within the next few months. We've already registered, we just need to buy the wireless router for it.

Wireless router*

Or you can go the stupid route like I did, and get a 50ft ethernet cable, and then take all the rugs in the house to cover it up so nobody trips on it, therefore pulling the 360 off the shelf, while incidentally also making a weird zigzagging path of rugs throughout the house.

That sounds like it would be majorly inconvenient.

There are just not many games I'm interested in with the PS3. X-Box LIVE is becoming free... just slowly.

I think I'll take G_C's route and get into cycling...
but I'll start in the spring.

Advice: Buy a road bike.
Buy a used road bike.*
And don't go to Wal-Mart to find it. Go to a bike store. They can size you so you get the most comfortable bike for you.
Buy tools so you can fix it yourself: starting with a portable pump, tire levers, patch kit, small crescent wrench.

Good ta go.

Woot for having better servers, better games, and overall better online experience.

I have a 1970s era female Huffy cruiser bike (singlespeed with coaster brake) I overhauled and painted, it has 26" fat tires,
Image

a yellow Raleigh Record from the 1970s that is a 10-speed road bike with 27" wheels,
Image

and a blue Raleigh Super Grand Prix from the late 1970s that I converted from a 10-speed to a single-speed fixed gear.

I have a frame of an old Huffy road bike, but that's gonna get scrapped. Or, who knows, I might tune it up and sell it.

Taste in games is subjective. Taste in anything is subjective.

The only reason I would've ever gotten a PS3 is being ported to 360 now (FF games), so I'm only missing out on Little Big Planet, which I hear is like... the generation's best game.

I'm willing to miss out on that one.

What do you actually do in that game? Other than make stuff and run your person through it?

Other than MGS4 and Killzone2 there was not much point in getting a PS3. Although if I were to buy one now i'd more likely go for a PS3, in my haste to go next gen I didn't really think through the overall costs.

But yeah xboxLive for free, I wouldn't waste the time wishing :P

I never got FF games. Just never really appealed.

@ voly, about better games, pfft as if. maybe if you have shitty taste in games.

Like? I find this such a moot point when comparing.

Killzone2

What do you actually do in that game? Other than run through the levels and shoot stuff?

yeah, point was, a lot of games are very basic in premise, in the end most of them result in "go to point A overcoming problems in your way". and when described in "what do you have to do" become boring. experiencing them however, can be quite different.

The reason I say X-Box LIVE becoming free (extremely slowly), is because if they don't, X-Box loses a lot of money. Mass amounts of people will switch to PS3 just for the free internet access.
*Or nothing will change.

1. xbox is one word, no line
2. xbox is a brand, the company is microsoft
3. no, there is still a very viable market in paid-for online options, microsoft will most likely keep this system or an alternative.
