Awsome. Fucking. Movie.

Its great. It gets a bit slow at some moments but its definawkrhbgfs(sp?) worth it even if you are not a fan of the games.

I'm not a huge fan of anime. I started playing FF without knowing what anime was but I have to say this movie is awsome and you don't have to like anime to like it.

And the fights. OHMYGODTHEFIGHTS. So many fucking memories. I'll cry myself to sleep now. Night.

I saw it the other day. It's okay, but you'd have to play the game in order to understand what in the hell's going on.
There's a scene that invites allllll the characters into one and that sucked, and I expected more fight scenes from each character and more in-depth plots for each of the characters, but it's mainly focused on Cloud and Sephiroth/genes/brothers/siblings/etc.
Some parts were disappointing and boring with all the constant clashing of swords but overall, if you have played the game, I'd give it a 8 at the very most. and that's being nice.

I hated FFVII mostly cause when I finished it so many people said it was awesome and I thought it was highly over-rated.

May my love for Final Fantasy be clouding my judgement? 'Cloud'ing jaja

@Syn: I thought it was pretty damn assrapeing good. I'll see it again just because you made me doubt of myself.

Mmmm, I thought it was ok for the movie to focus on Cloud and Sephirot, the other characters were developed on the game and there was no need for them to start the whole thing again, but I would wanted them to appear and do more through the story. I agree with you about the lack of fight scenes but the ones that showed were very really good.

@Ardizt: That would be the VII and VIII. Advent children is the continuation of the 7. And Tactics Advance was ok but too damn easy.

FF7 the game was awesome in my opinion. I have been wanting to see Advent Children for ages and finally saw it last night. I thought it was quite good if youve played the game. But I think they made Sephiroth look too evil and Jenova sound too nice. In the game the "calamity from the skies" was actually nasty. There was a slight lack of plot and characters but overall I still like this film. Great animation and awesome fight scenes.

Well when Final Fantasy first came out there werent many RPGs or at least RPGs like it and now its been around for ages and they are all long and well thought out with good graphics and storylines etc. Admittedly there has been a couple of shitters (like ff8 ) but mostly they are good.

FF8 has it's fans. But the series is overall way too over rated.

You want a good RPG? The Legend of Dragoon for PS1

legend of dragoon is better than the ff series, but ff games are still pretty good to me.

FF are more adventure games than they are RPG's, the first RPG's that came out were the wizardry, might and magic and ultima series that came out in the early 80's, the bards tale came as a nice series too, wasteland came out in '88 or something like that and was the bases for the Fallout series wich is considered to be one of the all time gratest, we can't forget the elder scrolls series eider wich is still going with Oblivian today thou nothing will ever replace or obsolete Daggerfall wich is probably the largest game ever made having an explorable surface as big as old britan... and there you have some of the hard core RPG's...

meh... a lot of RPGs use things from other RPGs. And I guess I am biased as Final Fantasy was the first RPG series I played. Thanks for the recommendations though.

The ones I mention are the very first rpg's, they're nothing but the PC version of board games, you play them with the manual in front of you, there's almost no graphic, check out the wikipedia screenshot here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizardry
Same goes for the others, Daggerfall is better since it hase real time movement like modern shooters and you can look up and all but it's still an ancient 320x280 voxel sprite models engine... I don't recomend any of these games unles you want to get really hard core :) I just wanted to point out the fact that Final Fantasy isn't by far the first RPG, it's quite 6 years after the first wizardry.

looks like those rpg games where you can't see the gameplay, and it just tells you what's going on. some of them are pretty fun though.

okay so ff wasnt FIRST, but early nonetheless. But I think they are good. Very. Most of them anyway. I will try to find some of the games you all talk about but unless you have a trade me account thats nearly impossible and trade me isnt co-operating right now.
Yes I cocked up my dates a little, but its really not that big a deal. But thanks anyway.
